Canadian Banks

Scotiabank

A member of Canada’s big five banking institutions, the Scotiabank is the third largest bank in Canada by virtue of their overall assets.

The Bank of Nova Scotia - Scotiabank

The Scotiabank or as many Canadians still refer to it - The Bank of Nova Scotia, is currently Canada’s most international bank. The Scotiabank has more branches in other countries than any of the other big Canadian banks.

The Scotiabank, which celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2007, is a full service Canadian banking institution. It has almost 57,000 employees and serves some 12 million customers in 50 countries around the world. The Scotiabank offers its clients banking services ranging from personal banking, commercial and corporate investment banking.

In Canada, the Scotiabank is the bank of some seven million Canadians. The bank offers its customers more than 970 branches, and over 2,700 automated banking machines. The Scotiabank also offers its Canadian clients full Internet banking, commercial support centres, wireless banking and customer call centres.

The bank was founded in Halifax Nova Scotia in 1832. The Bank of Nova Scotia as it was originally called by 1900 had opened 38 branches across Canada. To the chagrin of the Americans, the Scotiabank has extensive banking interests in Cuba and throughout Latin America.
